Feeling replaceable.
We came across the globe to study Visual Communications at the RCA, payed high international fees, only to find its resource scarce and inaccessible, its structure disorganised and unproductive, and the campus unfit for a design institution.
Our tutors were constantly on strike and we felt lost and trapped in the office-like environment at our White City campus. When we had the chance to curate our own one-day show, we made one about how shitty we felt.

Our tutors were constantly on strike and we felt lost and trapped in the office-like environment at our White City campus. When we had the chance to curate our own one-day show, we made one about how shitty we felt.
We created a playful visual system by photographing every student in our group facing away from the camera and making an alphabet with each other. It is
a wordplay on the term identity: it is the identifying visual system of the show, but also speaks about how our individualities are reduced to faceless students in an education institution in post-Covid UK.
We also made an interactive installation as an extension of our identity system. Removed from their own realities, the cutouts of us become dummies suspended in space. The dummies are trapped, forever stuck, unable to move forward. We wrote down our thoughts and anxieties about what we were going through, and then invited the viewers to write down theirs too.
